And here I thought the attitude towards OCing was more positive

Concealed handguns are welcome, but don't pull them out and go yelling Aloha Snackbar all over the place.

Openly carried handguns will, I guess, do just that even if the wearer never had the intention of doing so.

Must be some special property of Hoosier sunlight that causes OCd handguns to go off the rails like that.

The real disappointment is that this establishment will make the gun-friendly list.

stay safe.

I read the sign and didn't see a problem. Concealed, Holstered, or Cased. I can carry concealed, or I can carry holstered (presumably, openly) or I can bring the gun in cased.

Wondering where the issue is...

Concealed, holstered, or cased.

One of the above, but not all three.

Otherwise your firearm would need to be concealed in a holster that was also in a case.

Concealed is welcome, no mention is made of open carry. Open carry in a holster meets one of the three possible required carry methods.

It requires a little convoluted reasoning to come to that conclusion I suppose. Definitely not crystal clear. I would agree with the assessment in the OP thread title however, not very OC positive. I have OCed in Indiana some, with no issues.

It appears someone from the blog felt the need to address this issue also:

EDIT: It pains me to have to spell this out for the Hard-of-Reading and the Perpetually Offended, but the sign doesn't say "No open carry." It says "Firearms must be concealed, holstered, or cased."

If a sign said "Pizzas must have pepperoni, sausage, or bacon," would that mean all pizzas must have pepperoni? No. No it would not. Just don't come in waving a gun around in your hand. It needs to be concealed, holstered, or cased.

In big print "LAWFUL CONCEALED CARRY WELCOME HERE".

We've got a range/gunstore in town with a sign that is essentially the same wording. Walk in there with your Openly Carried handgun holstered and panties get wadded, hysterics breaks out, and they threaten to have you permanently trespassed.

Agreeing that we are all guessing at what they actually meant by putting up the sign, I still have to ask why it says "lawful concealed carry" as opposed to "lawful carry".

What we need is for an Indy local to go there and find out just how welcome OC is - which is why it was put in the Indiana forum in the first place.

stay safe.

Well, for me the solution is easy. If I see a place of business with no sign, I interpret that as meaning OC is OK and CC is OK. If I see a "No Concealed Weapons" sign, I interpret that as OC is OK, CC is not OK. If I see 'No guns" (or its equivalent) I interpret that as "No guns". Anything other than these three scenarios is too confusing and bizarre for me to react to. In those cases I just do as I please. What I don't do is hide my gun and sneak it into a place that prohibits guns, give them some of my money and afterward think I've put something over on them.
About the part of your post I put in bold for emphasis.....

Well said Sir!!! Well said!

i'm afraid whomever the copywriter was for the site's web page has the same confusion on making things hard-to read- cuz to put this in their website's promo would/should offend some women i am afraid!!

quote: We make women and families feel welcome and special by providing many specialized training clinics and one-on-one instruction. unquote

hun, come on now take me to the gun store so i can feel, ya know special, ya know what i mean hun...(shades of bad script writing from a soft porn movie)

We know that range/store to have principals that have been opposed to LACs carrying, particularly OC. There are some friendlies that work there - apparently the pay is as good as the top level facilitiy is attractive....but at a high cost per service and product.

Bottom line: I don't know any experienced, involved activists that have done more than check them out & therefore do not frequent that establishment.

IMO - they cater to the uneducated, impressionable entry level shooter and LEOs. My shadow will never darken their door.

No rule(s) was violated in this posting - see rule #6 where an exception is noted "unless they are specifically related to an anti-open carry position."
